Meet Trooper now and you’ll encounter a friendly, happy, playful dog who welcomes the attention you offer him. You’ll notice that he walks nicely on leash, behaves appropriately around people and other dogs, and knows quite a few nifty skills he’d be happy to show off for you. It’s hard to believe that just a few months ago, Trooper shied away from people completely. He was nervous for petting, froze up when it was time to participate in class activities, felt insecure around other dogs, and spent a lot of time laying down and trying to retreat from the world around him.
His transformation has been a beautiful thing to watch. It was gradual, like the opening of a flower, and every glimpse of the dog inside proved to those who love him that they’d been right about his potential all along. Trooper found himself some amazing advocates who visit him regularly at the shelter, bring him consistently to our group classes and hikes, and even let him sneak the occasional tater tot. It’s because of them that Trooper is already a success story. The next step in Trooper’s journey, and one we can wholeheartedly say he’s now ready for, is finding a home of his own. Could it be yours?
Trooper is currently at Town Lake Animal Center, 1156 W. Cesar Chavez. Email adopt@dogsoutloud.org to set-up a time to meet Trooper or learn more about him!
